Home Acquisition and Rehabilitation
The first property has been selected for a joint effort to rehabilitate older Cudahy homes in sore need of repair, and also increase home ownership.
The Community Development Authority (CDA) has approved a plan by the the Milwaukee Community Service Corps (MCSC) to purchase a vacant duplex at 3623 E. Somers Avenue. Under the agreement, the City of Cudahy will provide $25,000 in down payment assistance as well as a loan guarantee of up to $25,000.
After acquiring the duplex, the MCSC will convert it to a single family home, renovate it and and sell it to an owner occupant. Proceeds from the sale of the property will be split evenly with the CDA.
The MCSC is a non-profit, vocational training organization that provides employment, education and life skills training to young adults, through projects that conserve the environment and revitalize the greater Milwaukee area.
